Want to get more of what you want?

Here are 6 strategies designed to work.

I was talking with a returning client last week about how she can get more of what she wants in her life and I thought you’d like this coaching too.

She’s crashing and close to burning with her new venture. Based on the west coast with an east coast office, she wakes to a litany of issues in email.

“Everything is an emergency. I have 42 emails about one friggin’ order! My day is shot from that point forward.”

She is a superstar. A veteran in her business, she now finds herself working with newbies – dedicated, talented, enthusiastic… newbies.

But what happens when you try to solve everyone’s issues? Soon you spin out of control – just like my client is experiencing right now.

The day gets away and nothing of what you needed to do actually got done.

“My blood pressure shot through the roof the other day… I looked in the mirror and I was all red.”

“That’s the signal,” I said. “Your body is telling you – you are out of alignment.”

And so it is with me…

I’m out of my regular routine with my son’s broken leg. Instead of waking to morning pages, I’m waking to “Mom, can you make me breakfast?”  “Mom, can you wrap my leg.”

Yesterday I found myself in front of my laptop at the end of my day wondering what had happened.

I lost my practice. I was out of alignment. I forgot the importance of my morning routine.

Intentions are everything.

If you have been on my blog for awhile, you know intentions are everything.

It’s about living a conscious life – one of your own choosing. Nothing actually ‘happens’ to you that you don’t allow.

The world around us – people, projects… everything is in flux. Nothing stays stagnant.

So how do you surf this rolling tide?

More importantly… how do you get done what you want to get done – whether that’s with work, your art, your health or your relationships?

If you have been on retreat, coached with me privately or have joined one of my groups, this will already feel familiar. If you are new, I’ll let you in on a few secrets…

How to get more of what you want…

  • Stay aligned with your higher power – this means first connecting with each day – whether that is through journaling or meditation (preferably both) begin each day by grounding in your ‘beingness.’
  • Set an intention. What you focus your attention on grows. Being intentional is one of your greatest superpowers. Whether your intention for the day is ease and flow, abundance, or just relentless focus on your priorities, as you intend, so it will be.
  • Be grateful. Like setting intentions – what you focus on grows – being grateful for what you have or experience each day draws more of those things and experiences to you. Stretch yourself. Go beyond the obvious. What little things make your life that much more pleasant? (Two playful chickadees just did a dance in front of my office window as I wrote this – bringing a lightness with them.. Joy… so appreciated.)
  • Be aware. If you are not grounded or intentional, you might miss the juicy bits that pass you by each day. Solutions to problems. New opportunities. Maybe even the love of your life. The Universe provides abundant opportunities for us to actually get what we want each day, but we’re too wrapped up in our heads to notice. Start noticing.
  • Nourish the feeling. You eat when you are hungry, you eat when you are stressed, you eat when you’re lonely, but do you eat based on how you want to feel? The gut is the source of so much more than chemicals to break down nutrients and turn them into calories. The gut is responsible for your mood, memory and mental clarity. If you eat based on how you want to feel (back to intentions) you are likely to have everything you need to sail through your day.
  • Give yourself permission to daydream. Daydream? Yes, daydream. It’s another way of saying manage your thoughts and keep focused on your desires. What happens when you focus on the problems? They get bigger. What happens when you focus on the outcome and know in your gut that it’s going to happen? You get there. It happens. You get the guy. You get the money. You live the dream. So daydream… often.

Life IS what you make of it. Although you can’t control what happens outside of you, you ARE the master of your own destiny. Harness your superpowers to get more of what you want.
